For us to remember :)
Anger explained…
A saint asked his disciples,
‘Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each
other when they are upset?’
Disciples thought for a while, one of them said,
‘Because we lose our calm, we shout.’
‘But, why shout when the other person is just next to
you?’ asked the saint. ‘Isn’t it possible to speak to him or her
with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you’re angry?’
Disciples gave all kinds of answers, but none satisfied the saint.
Finally he explained, ‘When two people are angry at each other, their hearts
distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear
each other.
The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to
hear each other through that great distance.’
Then the saint asked, ‘What happens when two people
fall in love? They don’t shout at each other but talk softly. Why? Because
their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very
small…’
The saint continued, ‘When they love each other even
more, what happens?
They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to
each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only
look at each other and that’s all. That is how close two people are when
they love each other.’
MORAL:
When you argue do not let your hearts get distant, do not
say words that distance each other more, else there will come a day when
the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.
so beebee, we shall not shout at each other alright? ![]()

Is there still value in this?
Humans are in this never-ending rat race, only striving for the better.
In my primary school years, my teachers told me that children have to study hard so that they get good grades and have better lives. And so I strove for the ‘best’.
In my secondary school years, my teachers said the same thing again. Therefore, I tried my best so that I’d get good O level grades and get into a good school, in hope for a better future.
When I was in JC, my teachers said that JC was the toughest it could get, and university life is going to be so relaxed and easier than JC life. And I believed that (you can call me naive). So, I worked really hard, hoping I would get into a ‘Reputable course’ in a university so that I’d eventually get a good future.
And now that I’m in university, I realise that all that my JC teachers said were basically rubbish. Lies. University life is nothing but another part of life. Torturous, painful, stressful, competitive. Never-ending.
So people strive for the best GRADES possible. In class, we don’t function for the sake of LEARNING. we function for the sake of SCORING. we compete, we compare, we sacrifice. We sacrifice the true ‘happiness in life (God knows that that really is), we sacrifice our leisure time in order to work, work, and do more WORK so that ‘we have a better future’.
So.. when is the ‘better future’ going to start? After we get good grades? Or when we get into the workforce (AFTER GETTING GOOD GRADES), and get a high-paying job? NO. We continue slogging just because of the ‘Substitution Effect’ that economists always say- Higher wages, more working hours, less leisure. So when will this end? ‘When we have ENOUGH money’ so that we can enjoy ourselves? So how do we determine what’s ENOUGH for us?
Humans are just greedy, selfish and practical creatures. In search of ‘happiness in the future’, humans fight. Only ONE wins, and the rest lose. So what’s the point of fighting when the possibility of you being the one who wins tends to zero?
So why do people turn out this way? Educated beings, though educated, seem to be the most barbaric ones when it comes to vying and fighting for their WANTS. They steal, they commit crimes, they harm people.
Life is evil. The world is evil.
-
And I don’t know why I’m part of this world. I don’t need such a life, and I don’t want such a life. I don’t define happiness as being stuck in a rat race which I’ll never get out of. I don’t define happiness as ‘getting excellent grades in school’. At least I don’t want to. Perhaps everyone doesn’t want to, but will give an excuse saying that they ‘HAVE TO’ because that’s just how practical the world is.
-
I don’t know how to view and live life in the ‘best’ possible way anymore. What’s the ‘best’ anyway.
